With a focus on the health care, life sciences, and education sectors, Elizabeth ("Lizzie") Pignatelli represents individual and institutional clients in all phases of criminal, civil, and regulatory enforcement actions, sensitive internal investigations, and complex business litigation. She is a "go to" attorney for her clients' toughest matters because of her incisive advocacy, her ability to distill complex issues to what is most important, and her pragmatic approach to problem solving.
Lizzie's deep experience in both white collar and civil litigation merge to help clients navigate the often vague and always complex statutory and regulatory schemes that underpin civil and criminal fraud, Anti-Kickback, and False Claims Act matters. Lizzie's clients also seek her counsel in complex business litigation, ranging from large-scale contract disputes to multi-district products liability actions.
Lizzie regularly represents healthcare providers accused of misconduct, and is often called upon to assist individual medical professionals appearing before licensing boards, including the Board of Registration in Medicine and the Board of Registration in Pharmacy.
Lizzie is a trusted advisor in her client's most sensitive internal investigations of employee misconduct and whistleblower allegations. She is regularly engaged by schools and universities to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct and other violations of Title IX, and is also experienced in representing both complainants and respondents in connection with Title IX matters and related criminal proceedings.
Early in her career, Lizzie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph L. Tauro of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the Honorable Michael A. Chagares of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Lizzie serves on the Executive Board of the Women's Bar Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides legal services to domestic violence survivors. Throughout her career, Lizzie has also dedicated significant time to pro bono representation of indigent clients in a variety of contexts, including court-appointed criminal defense, and civil rights litigation.
